It Was A Nazi Salute!
About those Colombian deportation flights...
In 2024 Colombia had accepted 124 commercial flights of deported Colombian citizens. This is a normal part of the deportation process and little attention was paid to it.
Until now.
Trump's solution is to use military transports in which the deportees are handcuffed and in leg restraints. (It's all about the cruelty, SOP for Conservatives) This is the inhumane process to which the president of Colombia objected. As an alternative he offered to send his presidential jet to transport his country's citizens home but Trump objected to this very reasonable, cost-saving request.
If the above doesn't enrage you consider how you'd feel if your family member was sent from Colombia to the U.S. in chains for over-staying their visa.
In response to his own mishandling of the situation Trump has started a tariff war with Colombia, whose major exports are coffee, cut flowers, and oil. Yes, oil, meaning Trump has found yet another way to make everything you buy just that much more expensive.
Trump is resorting to using the military in this way as a means of projecting migrants as an "enemy" and to also normalize the use of the military in what were previously normal institutional processes. It's the "camel's nose" effect and Trump is investing heavily in Camel Chow stock.
The news headlines, sadly and predictably, are charging this up as a win for Trump, bleating that "Colombia backed down to Trump's dominance!". Except deportation wasn't a problem to begin with as it was previously being handled in a quiet, diplomatic, bureaucratic fashion. This is just another example of Trump ginning-up a problem in a high profile way and then taking credit for his genius "answer".
Fuck that guy.

Pete Hegseth is the new Secretary of Defense, which means we should be starting a shooting war in Greenland (or Canada) within the year.
That's where all the eggs come from, y'see.
