God Jobs

I'm listening to NPR this evening as it covered the devastating Turkey/Syria earthquakes.
At the end of the segment they reminded the audience that the two countries will need our financial help, but they cautioned prospective donors to be extra careful of exactly where to donate money as the world is full of George Santos'.

If you'd like to contribute here are some recommended organizations:

UNICEF
Mercy Corps
Doctors without Borders
Syrian American Medical Society
Turkish Red Crescent
The White Helmets
International Rescue Committee
Molham Team
Project Hope
Save the Children

I'm holding my thumb and forefinger about 1/16th of an inch apart. That's how much I was concerned with the dreaded Chinese weather balloon.

Rumors are afoot that Trump's lawyers are suggesting that Melania take the blame for writing that $130k check to Stormy Daniels.

Since hearing this I'll bet Melania is only using elevators.

I have mentioned here that I had the lenses replaced in both eyes recently. What I didn't know until I was well into the recuperative phase (yesterday, actually) was that the ophthalmologist who performed the procedure is regarded as the best in her field in Dallas.

It's sort of like asking a random artist to draw your caricature only to find out later that it was Norman Rockwell.

I wonder if it's too late to have her autograph them?

Mike, maybe the lenses are already laser-micro-autographed. You just can't see signature because of its size. ;-)

Sadly, deadly earthquakes happen so frequently that they, like mass-shootings, have become old "news". Or COVID-19 deaths. Remember the pandemic? Even an earthquake of this magnitude with its death toll of equally tragic magnitude is just too far away and too common of a news item, especially compared to the close-to-home balloon incident which is something completely different. Sad that this is what we've become.

Helium leaks easily. A simple toy balloon will only hold it for a few days. Weather balloons and the like use heavier materials.

The balloon was well above any aircraft's operating ceiling. A missile is all that could reach it. The teardrop shape comes from not being at max altitude. The helium expands as the outside air gets thinner. And the balloon gets rounder.

In answer to your question, anonymous, President Joe Biden mopped the floor with the GOP last night. And Turkey/Syria needs our help.

Anonymous

did anyone else find the shape of the balloon to be odd? all other high altitude balloon I have seen before have been tear drop shaped to account for less air pressure up there and expanding gasses.

And why use a missile to shoot at the balloon? wouldn't that risk the 3 school buses hanging below?

What about those #*@&$% helium-filled party balloons that come down without help from U.S. Navy aircraft?

CroneEver

The earthquakes in Turkey / Syria are tragic. Meanwhile, I'm waiting until a major earthquake strikes Florida, because if it ever does, we're going to see the same pictures, just different clothing. All those Surfside-style high-rise condos will collapse like wet cardboard.

Regarding the balloon(s) I am going to say:

NRA Bubba and Bubbette fired at it. They don't understand science, but gravity does.

What about the google balloons??

What about those pesky weather balloons; especially the one in 1947 (tongue in cheek) and speaking of: How about the Echo 1 & 2 balloons?

The Goodyear blimp, which is technically a oversized balloon.

The balloons that fly for recreation & sport?

So, yeah; not losing sleep over another balloon.

Regarding religion: A scam is a scam looking at you Kenneth Copeland, Joel Osteen, etc.

Okay. So food? Clothing? Tech?
Doesn't matter. We'll sell the squeal, not the pig.
Brand loyalty! Yeah! That's the ticket!
We'll need a product that requires low capital investment.

Plus avoid paying taxes.
