If ye 'aven't a ha'penny, guv, then 'ow about a smile?

You might notice something new on Raging Pencils today, namely the internet's new equivalent of "Will work for food", otherwise known as the Patreon images/links on this page.

Patreon, if you didn't already know, is a new system of cyber-begging which allows users to financially support internet content with monthly micro-payments. It's currently being used on thousands of sites, with enviable results.

The best part of Patreon, besides the potential of buckets of cold, hard cash is that with enough support the creator, meaning me, will be encouraged to offer new content. As far as the Rage is concerned, if monthly funding reaches certain levels I'll go to a 5-day-a-week or 7-day-a-week cartoon production rate. I'll do it! Don't think I won't! (Believe me, the levels are modest.)

You can support Raging Pencils at whatever funding level you like though I'm currently just suggesting $1 and $3-a-month levels. If anyone ponies up $8 a month I'll caricature their likeness, or anyone other person they choose (Think of the potential brownie points!) into a cartoon of my choice. Plus you'll get the signed original B&W artwork and a color copy of the final 'toon.

Do I expect to rake in zillions with this system? Not really. Political cartoons are a pretty hard sell but since interest in the site is currently at record levels I figured what the heck. As much as anything I'd like to create more 'toons but I can't ignore paying jobs unless I have a more entertaining alternative.

I dont intend to be obnoxious about this Patreon stuff. I'll noticeably encourage support for a week or two and then set it on "simmer". For now, click the links and investigate the service. And, as always, thanks for your ever-lovin' support.
