And
Now For Something....
Yes,
this is today's "cartoon", but it does feature
a cartoon character. Now you know why Wednesday's 'toon
was done so simply. Sorry, no roll-over today.
Yes, it's 1995-tiny but this is as large as I
can post it on
this
page
due to
format
limitations
but please do expand
it to full page size to perceive it in all it's glory. You
can
also find it here on
Youtube should you care to share it with others.
The origin of the lyrics are from a cynical poem I wrote
about Trump shortly after the inauguration. Recently various
sites have begun offering the amazing possibility of putting
words to AI music, in this case Suno.com (check it out!)
so I rewrote it to better effect and gave it a try.
Thumbnail review:
It's
amaze-balls!
But it's
a hit-or-miss prospect
as you can only choose a style of music to which to perform
the lyrics. After trying literally hundreds of genres,
and combination
of genres, I hit on this C&W version. If you're
interested
I can offer links to the audio-only versions of the song
in death metal, polka, hip-hip, or opera, etc.
What I've learned in the process is that AI (probably) cannot
create music. It can borrow the sounds of previously existing
music
but not create it. In other words, an AI will never create
The Beatles' "Blackbird" but it can dissect it
and create approximations.
In the best of all possible worlds I would have ponied up
the dough and hired a real musician to put my glorious words
to music. But
in the best of all possible worlds, Donald Trump would have
been born in a normal family and raised decently.
BTW, I was putting the final touches on this thing yesterday
as I was watching the Trump "press conference" and I was
honestly of the notion that
he'd
either resign or die before I was able to post it. I would
have gladly accepted either result on balance.
Technical note: I animated this in Flash which,
as some of you probably know, has been virtually eliminated
from web usage due to security issues. This broke my heart
as I was an avid Flasher back in the day, but Flash maintains
the
ability
to output
to any number of pixel-based formats so it was nice to have
an opportunity to jump back into that saddle.

Speaking of dough, last month my Patreon monies, as promised,
were evenly divvied out to Ruben Gallego in Arizona, Elissa
Slotkin
in
Michigan, Colin Allred in Texas, and some woman named
Kamala in Washington. I will look for closer contests to
share the latest payout with soon.
