Go
Joe!
This is going to be an odd criticism of Joe Biden but,
as President of this here country, he may have done just
too
good of
a job.
Hear me out.
Suppose Joe had basically napped through four years of
office, as Conservatives had pearl-clutchingly predicted
back in 2016, instead of leading, as he did, the legislative
charge to fix some of this nation's many problems.
That means we'd, right now, still be looking at Trump with
91 indictments and likely heading to the Crossbar Hotel.
We'd also be enjoying the pleasant spectacle of a race
to
replace
Biden by any number of well-qualified political candidates.
So the 2024 election would be Trump [sad trombone sound
goes here] against Dems like Buttigieg, Harris, Klobuchar,
Whitmer, Newsom, Bernie or maybe even Raphael Warnock. (I'd
like Raskin or Whitehouse to give it a shot.)
Regardless of what the right-wing rage machine says I feel
the majority of the American electorate understand that
Joe has done a good job, as do I, better even then we could
have
hoped
with a divided Congress. So let's hope the 2024 election
is
good
for Democrats to the extent that perhaps Joe could spend
the last four years resting while his party takes advantage
of a Dem-majority Congress.
And maybe Joe
could sign legislation, such as codifying abortion, using
a big, fat sharpie and holding it up so the whole world
can see it as he gives us all that big, beautiful, sincere
smile.
