Shouldn't I be writing about Putin's invasion of Ukraine?
Dubya on Putin: "I looked the man in the eye. I
found him to be very straightforward and trustworthy.
We had a very good dialogue. I was able to get a sense
of his soul; a man deeply committed to his country and
the best interests of his country."
Funny how we never heard that sort of opinion about Vlad
from Bill or Barack or Hillary or Joe.

The GOP's been dangling the LGBTQ community as red meat
in front of their aging Fox News audience. But young
people support that community and they're going to be
voting in vast numbers in coming elections, and they
won't be voting Conservative.

I've been thinking about guns lately, especially in their
connection with the oh-so-sacred Second Amendment.
It occurs to me that there's nothing in the Bill of Rights that allows you to
shoot and kill other people. You'd think it'd be in there
somewhere.
A novel idea that occurred to me is that bullets available
to the general public could be charged with a less-powerful
powder, making them about as effective as a Nerf dart.
Hey! Ain't nothing in the 2nd says anything about how
strong the powder can be. So hush!
As far as contemporary firearms go you have to admit
that the mechanism used is very primitive.
We need
Star
Trek's phasers,
which would make a Glock look like a 1920's phone compared
to an iPhone.
I mean, a phaser is an "arm" too, right? Plus,
it's rechargeable and it doesn't put more lead in the
environment. That's win-win!
There's nothing a phaser set on "stun" can't do that
a revolver set on, well, "kill" can do minus all the
blood and death. Headlines like
"Man enters schools and stuns 27 kids" would
be much less newsworthy, and less copycat-able.
And yeah, yeah, yeah, I hear you. Phasers can be set
to "kill" but that'd be military phasers only.
As for hunting phasers you'd need approval from a higher
authority.
Like Captain Kirk.
So who's with me? Who's for 21st century 2nd Amendment?

Note to all you Pencil-Necks: There is never an adequate
explanation for any failure so the lack of new cartoons
over the past week shall have to go under the heading
of
"life" for now. Excelsior!
