God
Bless America
Without
too much doubt I am not what you would call a mainstream
kinda guy.
Rather than rush out to the theatres this weekend and
fight the crowd to see the latest bond pic I decided
to fluff
up the bat-pillows in my sanctum sanctorum and Netflix
a copy of "God
Bless America", a scrumptiously
dark comedy
written
and
directed
by comedian
Bobcat Goldthwait.
The plot concerns an average, though intelligent man
(Joel Murray) who reaches his limit regarding the dumbing-down
of
America.
He's
dying of a brain tumor and decides to take the worst
offenders of public taste with him before he goes.
Along the way he's "adopted", and encouraged,
by an enthusiastic teenager played by Tara Lynn Barr.
They're
both terrific.
It's
smart, and
funny,
and sweet, and really demented. But
above
all,
it's
honest,
with
a
truly
gutsy ending and a peculiar fetish for Alice Cooper.
My only gripe about the film is that it had to spend
too
much
time
establishing
the worst that America can offer, and there's way too
much of that.
If you have Netflix give it a try. If you make it past
the first five minutes you'll enjoy it all.

The holy days are upon us so you need
to start your online shopping now. I said NOW, pilgrim!
And I'm here to help. Since people
are really only interested in the price of gifts these
days I thought I'd look for items guaranteed to
wet the recipients jammies with joy.
Sigma
200-500mm f/2.8 APO EX DG Ultra-Telephoto Zoom Lens
for Nikon DSLR Cameras
Have you ever desired to own a camera
lens powerful enough to warrant suspicion from local
law enforcement?
Are you
secure enough in your manhood to publicly utilize an
item guaranteed to raise questions about the relative
degree of your studliness? If your answer to both of
these questions is "Yes! Yes! Oh, god, Yes!" then
the Sigma 200-500mm camera lens is for you! Only one
left at the
bargain
price of $25,999,
so hurry!
