As
We Recall
Way
too many voters made the mistake of voting
for wolf-in-sheep's clothing Conservatives
in the 2010 mid-terms. But that won't happen
again
in 2012 because Republicans are busy trying
to make sure that no one but Republicans
get to vote in 2012.
I'm serious. In states with Republican-led state governments they're busy passing
laws and setting up road-blocks against students, soldiers, immigrants, ex-cons
or
anyone
who
waited
until the
last minute to register to vote. Minorities get no special attention because
"Voting
while
black" has always been a crime in the GOP's eyes.
Meanwhile,
in
Texas,
they're
trying
to
give
special voting privileges to the elderly and to gun-owners.
Gee, I wonder which party they prefer?
And have you heard about Michigan? Republicans there are feverishly trying to
enact new laws that impose a sort of financial
martial law on the state. If
passed
the
state
government could "fire local elected officials, break contracts, seize and sell
assets, eliminate services - and even eliminate whole cities or school districts
without any public input."
That must be the "small government" Republicans are always talking about. The
one that owns every inch of your ass.
Meanwhile, back in Wisconsin, its legislature is busy writing laws that will
allow the government to essentially give its public utilities away, without a
bidding process, irrevocably. The Koch brothers, heavy financial backers of Governor
Walker and non-so-coincidentally in the energy business, are licking their chops
so
loud
at
the
prospect of snagging these properties they're in danger of breaking the public
peace.
It's simple: We should never allow any citizen's right to vote
be limited.
Ever. Those who abuse power in this way deserve our sharpest rebukes.
See you in 2012, assholes.

Deflowering maidens? It was called 'Droit de seigneur' or 'Right
of the first night', a law giving the local ruler first crack at the local brides.
It sounds plausible but there's some disagreement if it was ever put to practical
use. Sort of like a Republican campaign promise.

February
10, 2011: "We're going to have a relentless focus on creating jobs." -
John Boehner.
Still waiting, John.
------------
And
what is Fox News spewing lately? Lies about trade unions
and National Public Radio.
If you don't watch it please request that your local
cable provider remove them from your monthly
bill by calling them about it at three in the
morning.
