Whitewashing
the Windows
Ever
since Apple CEO Steve Jobs died there's been a growing
presence on the 'net championing the sainthood of ....
Bill
Gates.
Standing on the sidelines throughout the 90s with my
trusty li'l Mac at my side it was clear to me, clear
as an unsullied lake in fact, that Microsoft was hell-bent
on
extracting
every
cent it
could out
its
user-base through
the clever use of an operating system purposely designed
to be a buggy hunk of crap... which it still is. I
watched time-after-time as one promising company and
one
promising piece of software was bulldozed
out of existence by MS's desire to get it's massive
cut
of the action. 100% of the cut, that is.
You know how guilty Gates is now about this behavior?
Not at all. Not a flaming biscuit, but it's clear that
his wife Melinda has trouble sleeping at night. She's
obviously p-whipped
Bill
into whitewashing his dismal, money-grubbing image
to the tune of $10 billion big ones, spreading it around
on
any
number
of progressive
issues, though a lot of it entailed copies of Windows
to grade schools. Gee, how generous. Generally the
end result is admirable but from what I've read the
Foundation
can
be a real
pain
in the
ass
about
who gets what and how much. And don't get me started
on their sterilization programs. Yes, sterilization.
So the very suckers who were taken to the cleaners
by Microsoft for the past twenty years are now ecstatically
singing Bill's praises just because he's spreading
an insignificant
amount, to him, of his booty back on the peasantry. Yes,
the wolves preyed on the flock for years and now they're
back with vaccinations. Yay.
The thing that galls me is that these comment trolls
complain that Steve Jobs, regardless of the wonderful
things he achieved in the teeth of an entire industry
nipping at his heels, wasn't as philanthropic as Saint
Bill. They seem to forget
that Gates is
worth $50 billion while Jobs was sitting on a much
smaller, though relatively comfortable, nest egg of
$7 billion in Apple stock.
Given another ten years of good health there's no telling
what worthy enterprises Jobs would have turned his
attention to, but I'll bet we'll be hearing more from
his family in this regard before the decade is out.

For those who
can't parse this "lube and fecal matter" nonsense,
just Google "Santorum".
Go on. Try it!

Republican Job Creation Update
"We're
going to have a relentless focus
on creating jobs." -
John Boehner, February 10, 2011.
The following is #104 in a list of Republican
job creation activities
since they gained control of the House
in 2011. None, sad to
say,
have
yet to result in one, single new job.
(104) 11-4-2011: Yay! It's a GOP jobs bill! No, wait...
sorry, they're just deregulating
securities and
calling it a jobs bill. My mistake.
NOTE: As a result of an unexpected wave of enthusiasm
the Republican
Job Creation update now has its
own web site. It will remain on the RP but
a web site of its own will raise its visibility
on the 'net as
we progress towards the critical 2012 elections.
And I thank you for your support.
