Gut
Bomb
I know at least two people just like the guy in this
cartoon, chaps who are proud of the fact they never
eat their veggies.
And I know many others who labor under the mistaken
notion that humans are carnivores who just happen to
enjoy the ingestion of other, non-meat substances.
Like Twinkies or anything from
the McDonald's
Dollar Menu.
You may think that cooking meat is just a way of making
it sweet and tasty, but it's really the process
of pre-digestion as the application of high temperatures
break the
meat down to its more easily digestible component parts.
Eating
raw
meat
is never
advisable,
especially something you just ran over with your Buick,
but true carnivores can get away with such a "run-over-and-eat"
because their digestive
tract is many
times more
acid than a humans. A carnivore's gut is, for all intents
and purposes, a portable BBQ grill.
Yes, I know, you're going to ask "Well what
about steak tartare?" Not only is
this dish very carefully prepared, and almost impossible
to find in a restaurant, it is not recommended
for anyone
with
a weakened
immune
system. It could kill you, you little carnivore you.
Yes, as far as cats and
dogs are concerned, the cooked stuff we routinely chow
down on is the meaty
equivalent
of
baby
food.
Worse than that, eating meat is simply bad for humans
as we make our own cholesterol naturally. Eating meat
overloads
our systems with additional cholesterol leading to
all manner of maladies. Primarily heart disease. But,
we tell ourselves, perhaps BBQ is worth a premature
death.
If you're interested
in learning more on the subject check out Steve Pavlina's
"Are
Humans Carnivores or Omnivores?"
Update: Some readers have found the
Pavlina text to be a bit confusing, and I apologize
for that. So to help clarify the details
I'd like to offer a very simple list of comparative
anatomy.

Republican Job Creation Update
"We're
going to have a relentless focus on creating
jobs." -
John Boehner, February 10, 2011.
The following is #98 in a list of Republican
job creation activities
since they gained control of the House in
2011. None, sad to
say,
have
yet to result in one, single new job.
(98) 10-17-2011: Amtrak, for all its faults, carried a record number of riders
last year, indicating an undeniable need for its service. Naturally, the GOP
wants to cut
its funding off at the knees, possibly resulting in killing it altogether.
But who cares, right? Rich people don't ride public transportation.
NOTE: As a result of an unexpected wave of enthusiasm
the Republican
Job Creation update now has its
own web site. It will remain on the RP but a
web site of its own will raise its visibility
on the 'net as
we progress towards the critical 2012 elections.
And I thank you for your support.

Dump Fox News
And
what manner of lie is Fox News spewing today? They're
describing Ronald
Reagan as a president who lowered
taxes. Really! I'm serious! They're that stupid.
