Last
Tuesday the Republicans scored a victory of sorts by
gaining enough seats to take control of the House of
Representatives. One of the first things they did was
to inform the President, in no uncertain terms, that
this was a mandate, that the American people obviously
wanted things done the GOP way.
Let me remind the conservatives out there, be you Republican,
Libertarian or Tea Party, of something that might have
slipped your minds...
In 2008 the Democrats won the House, the Senate AND the
Presidency. That, my conservative friends, was a mandate
in every sense of the word and all you did for TWO FUCKING
YEARS was stand in the way of real progress. Even so,
democrats managed to pass health care reform, credit
card reform, massive college loan reform and a small
smatter of Wall Street reform even with you kicking and
screaming every inch of the way. You employed the filibuster
like it was never been used before. You forced cloture
after cloture on even the most minor of government policies.
You worked as hard possible to block unemployment benefits
for people who earned them, deserved them, desperately
needed them.
And what were your first acts this week? Boo-hooing about
Wall Street's bottom line and fucking the Tea Party-ers
right in the keister by admitting that "Oops!" we
can't lower the deficit like we promised, after all.
Gosh, who'd a thunk?
On the other side of the aisle the first thing we got
from Mr. Obama was a pledge to keep President Bush's
middle-class tax cuts in place and axing tax cuts for
the rich. Bravo, sir.
The taking of the House in 2010 was a statistical fluke.
You corporate puppets will be GONE in 2012 when the vast
majority of voters return to the pools to vote for Mr.
Obama and any Democratic candidate who happens to be
on the ballot.
So do us all a favor and try, please try, to consider
the greater good of America and not the balance sheet
of the corporate kingpins who pull your strings, pay
for your prostitutes and keep you living like sultans.
Do everything you can to help the people of this country,
especially the middle-class, to prosper and grow. Otherwise
there won't be much left of this country to fuck over
the next time.

As much fun as it is to openly question the heritage
of our conservative friends I think it's also important
to offer alternative ideas, and one of the areas in
the political arena that needs an overhaul is the voting
ballot. So
here are a few ways to fix it:
(1) Remove all party identification from the ballots.
Instead of, for example, "Barack
Obama (D)" it will just read "Barack Obama".
This means when it comes time to choose, say, your county
judge you better know which candidate is which.
(2) Add imaginary candidate names like "John Smithington" to
each contest. Any voters whose percentage of "real"
candidate choice drops below 30% for two consecutive
elections
has to sit out the next one as the wankers are obviously
just guessing.
(3) Get rid of the party-line vote. Yes, it's great fun
to press the button that essentially says "The other
guys suck!" but, in the long run, it's a retarded
idea. I mean let's be serious. There are times when
the opposition will offer a better candidate. It also
means we won't end up voting
for dead people, like we
just
did in California.
(4) In England they
bar you from winning an election or
running in the next one if you willingly lie about your
opponent. Sounds like a good place to start.
