I'd like
to take a moment to extend my most sincere condolences to the
Kennedy family on the loss of Senator Edward Kennedy. He died
much too young, at a time when we really really needed his
strength and guidance. He will be sorely missed.

Medical
Emergency
At
a town hall meeting on Monday the 25th, Oklahoma Senator Tom Coburn
was confronted by a woman who told a terrible tale about being unable
to
find medical
help for her husband, who has a traumatic brain injury. One of the
responses from Mr. Coburn was very, very interesting:
"The thing that's missing in this debate is us as neighbors, helping
people that need our help."
"Neighbors helping neighbors" is exactly how single-payer health care
works. We all chip in and donate our small part to fund a program that
helps those who need medical
aid when they need it.
Yes, Senator Tom Coburn, staunch opponent to the Obama health plan,
is actually for the Obama health plan, whether he
knows it or not.
Some of you may think
that Mr. Coburn meant that friends should bring over a casserole, but
all the tuna in the world won't treat a brain injury the way a skilled
medical
technician
can.
We need single-payer health care in this country and we need
it now.

I loves me some Rachel Maddow, and the other day she did something
terribly interesting. She added up all the votes for each Democratic
and Republican Senator and you know what she discovered?
Americans
vote for Democratic senators 2-1. Here are the exact numbers:
Votes cast for the 40 Republican senators: 44.2 million
Votes cast for the 60 Democratic senators: 82.3 million
You take out the millions of votes for Texas's two Republican senators
and that comparative number shrinks to ridiculously tiny levels.
What this means is that the Senate is being held hostage by
tiny fringe states, but that's by GOP design, just as it
was installing the two Bush's, Jeb and George, as governors in two
of the
most populous
states, Texas and Florida.
It's a very clever plan if your intention is to loot the U.S. Treasury
for eight years. And because way too many Americans aren't very bright,
it worked.
As philosopher Daivd Hume said, "Nothing is more surprising
than the easiness with which the many are governed by the few."
A-damn-men, brother.
