My initial sketch of today's 'toon had the Tawny Toddler keeping just one ball in the air, labeled "golf". It would have been accurate but it muddied the message.
I watched Jimmy Kimmel interview Jasmine Crockett the other night and, towards the end, he asked her what Democrats can do better in upcoming elections to get Democratic voters to the polls.
Being a smart woman, and a good politician, Ms. Crockett danced around the answer which was, to my ear, this: "Too many Americans are too dumb to understand when they're being lied to. So Democrats need to go for personality first, campaign promises second."
Ms. Crockett has personality plus, as do Bernie and AOC, so I think they'll do fine in this new political surreality. And it may be why Dick Durbin said goodbye.
