Mortem
I
will never be convinced that the American people willingly
and deliberately flushed away their freedom for the benefit
of that giant orange turd.
-------------
I turned 18 on Election Day, 1972. It was the first election
in which 18-year-olds were allowed to vote. I've always been
ashamed to admit that I pulled the lever that day for one
Richard Nixon.
Hey, I was young
and politically
ignorant, wasn't aware of the percolating Watergate crisis,
and knew that Tricky Dick was already President
so I figured "Why Not?". All I really wanted was
to stand in that line, go into that curtained booth and
exercise my right as an American to choose our leaders.
Thankfully, I learned my lesson, became a bit more politically
astute, and never voted for a Republican again.
So my first election put a criminal into the White House
and what would appear to be my last free election put another
criminal there, too. But not for lack of trying to stop
it this time.

Right about now you're probably wondering what
my plans are for this comic going forward and, yesterday
morning, I gave myself two options.
The first
was
based
on
the
belief
that the Mushroom King would be finally banished from the
halls of power forever. Anticipating the deliverance
of new and reasonable governance I was going to put the
strip on a full month's hiatus in order
to recharge
and, upon return, devote myself to social issues like
the environment, gun control and religion.
And never have to draw that goddamn Mango Mussolini again!
The Other Option was based on
the Worst Possible Outcome with the result being to chuck
the whole damn thing and start subsistence farming.
As Fate would have it, and she's an unpleasant little bitch,
we all woke up this morning to Putin's America and unless
Joe
Biden
exercises
his "immunity"
(if
you know
what
I mean)
everything that made this country great or any hope we had
of slowing
the
climate
crisis
is
gone.
It's gone forever and my little 'toons won't change shit.
So, after consideration, I'm going to go with Option A for
now so I'll see you all again in a month or so. I will probably
repost Classic Raging 'toons to keep the fires burning so
stop in now and again for a chuckle over 'toons from a more
innocent age.
The Comment Box will remain in case you feel the need to
vent a spleen or two but the progressive news links won't
be updated. (Sorry, eddi, but feel free to post your own.)
Thank you all for sharing this progressive
journey with me. Happy Holidays.

The comic posted today was originally from April of 2016.
It tells you everything that I suspect was responsible for
the Second Insurrection that occurred last evening.
I never trusted those black boxes and I felt that this
election's result was inevitable. And here we are.
