Dead
Meat
A recent
USC study indicates that people between
the ages of 50 and 65 who eat a high-protein
diet (20% of calories from protein) have a
400% greater chance of dying from cancer or
diabetes than those on a low-protein diet (10%
of calories
from protein).
Yes, high-protein diets are
as deleterious to your health as smoking!
Plant-based proteins, however, showed no similar
ill effect,
so eat all the beans and legumes
you want, bitches.
But take heart, old fogeys, because it seems
that once you reach the golden age of 65 the
body's need for protein increases. I don't think
this means barbeque is back on the menu three
times a day
but
it's nice to know an occasional juicy burger,
while you're watching The Price Is Right, won't
kill you.
