in 2003 I
watched the Bush administration repeatedly lie through
its teeth in order to convince Americans that invading
Iraq was necessary. WMD's, mobile anthrax stations,
the threat of nuclear weapons, all obviously ridiculous
notions that too many of my fellow citizens were all-too-willing
to embrace if for no other reason than to watch more
brown people getting blown
to smithereens on cable news.
And how did Mr. Bush counter those who dared to point
out the absurdity of his claims? He called us terrorists.
This was not an idle threat as the PATRIOT Act gave
the government carte blanche to muzzle anyone they
didn't like.

CIA asset Susan Lindauer. She is a remarkable woman
who
was
arrested,
thrown in jail, and prosecuted for seven years
to keep her from revealing all she knew about 9-11. And
