Here's
how I "watched"
all four 2012 presidential and vice-presidential debates...
In one
browser I had CNN.com playing a live
stream of the debate. In another browser
I had
my Twitter
page up, following all my liberal faves, including
Chris Rock, Albert Brooks, Steve Martin, and the
gut-bustingly incisive LOLGOP. I also had a small TV
off to the side with
the sound
off,
tuned to the debate on my local public broadcasting
station, just in case of bandwidth problems. (Which,
of course, occurred.)
So mostly I just listened to the debate while
following the Twitter feed, laughing my
ass off at all the marvelous insights. Occasionally
I'd glance at CNN's window to see how the independent
voters were judging the candidate responses, but I
didn't really watch them debate one another.
That's why I felt Mr. Obama won all three contests.
I paid attention to what was actually being said as
opposed to how they looked or acted. The President
didn't sound tired
to me in Debate One, he sounded annoyed at the crappola
spewing from Romney's mouth.
I think for the 2016 debates they ought
to use chess timers and let each candidate talk until
they run out of time. A table off to the side featuring
a brace of fact-checkers, each ready to throw the red
flag, would be a helpful addition, too.
Just don't take away mah twitter feed!
------------
One other thing.... the Dow Jones
collapsed yesterday, just one day after Mittens got
his butt handed to him
in the debate. I immediately suspected corporate chicanery
designed to take a little fire out of Mr. Obama's stump
speech, which would ordinarily include a shout-out
to the phenomenal rise of the stock market over the
past four years. It
seemed a logical thing for our oligarch pals to do.
I learned later in the day that the drop was due
to "massive sell-offs by big investors". I rest my
case.

Where

In
the third and final presidential debate Mitt
romney told 24 whoppers in 41 minutes.
------------
Why would Romney want to invest so many tax dollars
in new ships for the Navy? Perhaps it's because
one of his advisors made
millions building ships for the Navy.
------------
Ruh-roh! Early voting for Obama is off-the-charts in
some states. Sorry, Mitt.

The mother of a former Navy SEAL, killed in action
in Libya, is asking Mr. Romney to stop
referring to him in his stump speeches.

"If General Motors, Ford and Chrysler get the bailout that their

In
2009, ended further purchases of Lockheed Martin
single-seat, twin-engine, fighter aircraft, which
cost $358 million apiece. Though the military had
187 built, the plane has never flown a single combat
mission. Eliminating it saved $4 billion.

Republican Job Creation Update
For
the past two years the Republican-led House had the chance to pass any
number of jobs bills to get this country back on its feet. Instead,
they did nothing, hoping that the lousy economy they were nurturing would
ruin Mr. Obama's chance at reelection. That's the Republican way.

The Obama Apology Tour
I'd like to apologize for Mitt Romney.
I'm sure you all expected an honest, reasonable candidate...
but the Republican Party is compromised...
by those who seek to own, not govern...
and he's simply the best they could do.
