Christmases Long,
Long Ago
Before
I succumb to the charms of the season I'd like to call
your attention to the Youtube video below, "A Child's
Christmas in Wales", (part one) written and, in
this case, read by the remarkable Dylan Thomas. This
prose-poem describes one young boy's Christmas from
a time long before the transistor was
a gleam in anypne's eye. It's charming,
at times wickedly funny but
always thoroughly
enchanting.
What I enjoy most about the story is that it's all about the process of celebrating
Christmas without any of the religious backwash getting in the way. It's one
long, delightful, historical list of "how-to" but without the guilt.
So dim the lights, sit back in
a comfy chair and let Mr. Thomas' sonorous voice swaddle
you in a little seasonal magic.

Well, that's it for me. Beloved Girlfriend
and I have a date tonight in front of a fire, watching
"The Muppet Christmas Carol" and stuffing ourselves with
Xmas
goodies.
So have yourself a fabulous little Winter's Solstice,
everyone, and
I'll see
you on Monday.
