A
Moveable Feast
A couple
of months ago, at the insistence of several frequent visitors
to Raging Pencils , I added an RSS feed to this
web site and, lo and behold,
currently over 25% of you depend on the feed for your thrice-weekly
progressive jollies. That number grows higher every single
day.
That freaking amazes me, but I feel a bit foolish.
You see, I had looked at RSS as a broadcast technology for a
long time but I just didn't have the energy or patience to struggle
through
the many online tutorials to make it happen. Eventually it was
becoming clear that the
RP was virtually alone in a constellation of online comics,
all radiating their comic goodness thorough the magic of Really
Simple Syndication. So a lot of Mountain Dews, a little elbow
grease and a few suspiciously head-shaped holes in my plaster
later, here we are.
What I'm really trying to says is... if there are any other technologies
that appear to be roaring to the crest of the next online wave,
please let
me
know. The
more people I can annoy with this dang cartoony thing, the better.
----------------
While on the subject of numbers, two-thirds of visitors to Raging Pencils last month used Firefox. 63%, to be exact. Meanwhile
only 16% use IE.
A year ago the numbers were 75% Firefox and 12% IE, which means 8% went elsewhere.
And I believe that "elsewhere" is the iPhone.
Looks like its time to get the RP iPhone-ready.
Here we go again.
UPDATE: I visited Raging Pencils on a friend's iPhone last night and I was
amazed to find the RP fits that beautiful little screen perfectly. No scrolling,
no nothing. Lucky me.
